Protejo — AI-Powered Parental Control Platform

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Protejo mobile applications, web dashboard, and related services (collectively, the "Service") operated by Protejo ("we," "our," or "us").

By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Eligibility

  • You must be at least 18 years old to create a Protejo parent account.

  • You must be the parent or legal guardian of any child whose device you monitor using Protejo.

  • You are responsible for ensuring that your use of Protejo complies with all applicable laws in your jurisdiction, including laws related to electronic monitoring and privacy.

2. Description of Service

Protejo is a parental control platform that helps parents monitor and manage their children's digital activity for safety purposes. The Service includes:

  • AI-powered content analysis for detecting online threats

  • Screen time management and app controls

  • Location tracking and geofencing

  • Web content filtering

  • Safety alerts and notifications

  • Remote support features

  • Parent dashboard (web and mobile)

3. Acceptable Use

You MAY use Protejo to:

  • Monitor devices belonging to your minor children (under 18)

  • Set screen time limits and content restrictions for your children

  • Track your children's location for safety purposes

  • Receive alerts about potential online threats to your children

You may NOT use Protejo to:

  • Monitor any person who is not your minor child

  • Monitor an adult's device without their knowledge and consent

  • Conduct surveillance on employees, partners, or other adults

  • Stalk, harass, or intimidate any person

  • Violate any applicable law or regulation

  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or modify the Service

  • Attempt to circumvent security measures or access other users' data

  • Use the Service for any purpose other than child safety monitoring

Violation of these terms may result in immediate account termination.

4. Account Responsibilities

  • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.

  • You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.

  • You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.

  • You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide.

  • You must keep your email address current to receive important notifications.

5. Child Consent and Transparency

We strongly encourage parents to:

  • Inform their children that Protejo is installed on their device

  • Discuss the purpose of monitoring (safety, not surveillance)

  • Explain what types of activity are being monitored

  • Establish trust through open communication about digital safety

On iOS, certain features (such as screen sharing) require the child's explicit consent and cannot be activated without it.

6. Subscription and Payment

  • Protejo offers a subscription-based service at $15 per month per monitored child.

  • Payment is processed through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.

  • Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled before the renewal date.

  • Refunds are handled according to Apple's and Google's respective refund policies.

  • We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days' notice to existing subscribers.

7. AI Analysis and Accuracy

  • Protejo uses artificial intelligence to analyze content for potential threats.

  • AI analysis is not perfect and may produce false positives (flagging safe content) or false negatives (missing harmful content).

  • Threat scores (0-100) are estimates and should be used as guidance, not definitive assessments.

  • Parents should review flagged content and use their own judgment.

  • Protejo is a tool to assist parents, not a replacement for parental supervision and communication.

8. Limitation of Liability

  • Protejo is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied.

  • We do not guarantee that the Service will detect all online threats or prevent all harm to children.

  • We are not responsible for actions taken or not taken based on alerts or information provided by the Service.

  • Our total liability to you shall not exceed the amount you paid for the Service in the 12 months preceding the claim.

  • We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages.

9. Platform Limitations

The Service operates within the technical constraints imposed by Apple (iOS) and Google (Android):

  • iOS Limitations: Due to Apple's privacy restrictions, certain features (such as SMS monitoring, call log access, and social media content monitoring) are not available on iOS. Screen time data on iOS is reported as approximate values.

  • Android Limitations: Some features require Accessibility Service and Device Administrator permissions. The child may see permission-related system notifications.

  • General: Internet connectivity is required for most features. GPS accuracy varies by device and environment. AI analysis depends on server availability.

We continuously work to improve the Service within platform constraints.

10. Data and Privacy

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, available at https://protejo.com/privacy. Key points:

  • We collect only data necessary for child safety monitoring

  • Sensitive data is automatically deleted (SMS/calls: 90 days, photos: 48 hours)

  • We never sell your data to third parties

  • We never show advertisements

  • You can export or delete all your data at any time

11. Intellectual Property

  • The Service, including all software, AI models, designs, and content, is owned by Protejo and protected by intellectual property laws.

  • You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Service for its intended purpose.

  • You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works based on the Service.

12. Termination

  • You may terminate your account at any time by contacting support@protejo.com or through the app settings.

  • We may terminate or suspend your account if you violate these Terms.

  • Upon termination, your data will be deleted according to our Privacy Policy.

  • Sections 8 (Limitation of Liability), 11 (Intellectual Property), and 13 (Governing Law) survive termination.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be resolved in the courts of Delaware.

14. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via email or in-app notification. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
